Audition Requirements

Acceptance is by audition only. Auditions are submitted via video. See audition application for instructions. Memorization is NOT required. All instruments:  D Major, G Major, C Major Scales (1 octave), 2 excerpts of your choice showing your current playing level (1-2 minutes each)

Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony Orchestra:

Violins
Concert Orchestra: D Major, Bb Major, & 1 of your choice (2 octaves); Etude of choice (2 min max); Solo of choice (3 min max)

Philharmonic Orchestra: A Major, C Major, Eb Major & 1 of your choice (2-3 octaves); Etude of choice (2 min max); Solo of choice (3 min max)

Symphony Orchestra: A Major, C Major, Eb Major & 1 of your choice (3 octaves); Etude of choice (2 min max); Solo of choice (3 min max)

Violas

Woodwind and Brass Instruments
Philharmonic Orchestra: Chromatic scale and 1 scale of your choice, (2 octaves is a goal, not a requirement. Play to the extent of your range for chromatic scale); 2 shorter contrasting etudes (or excerpts from etudes) that showcase both the technical/articulation strengths and lyrical/expressive qualities. These excerpts can be taken from solo literature. (4 min max total for etudes); Solo of your choice (3 min max)

Symphony Orchestra: Chromatic scale and 1 scale of your choice, (2+ octaves for each. Play to the extent of your range for chromatic scale); 2 shorter contrasting etudes (or excerpts from etudes) that showcase both the technical/articulation strengths and lyrical/expressive qualities. These excerpts can be taken from solo literature. (4 min max total for etudes); Solo of your choice (3 min max)

Harps
Symphony Orchestra: Scales and arpeggios as extensive as possible; Solo of your choice (3 min max)

Percussion Instruments
All orchestras: 1 Etudes/excerpts of etudes on 2 of these instruments: snare, timpani, or a mallet instrument; 1 Etudes/excerpts of etudes of 2 of the following instruments: tambourine, triangle, or crash cymbals; Solo of your choice (3 min max)
