Students in the Concert Orchestra should have strong knowledge of their instrument and be reading music at approximately the level of Suzuki book 3. Applicants should also be of sufficient behavioral and emotional maturity to concentrate and participate in a weekly, 90-minute rehearsal held on Sunday afternoons. Placement in the orchestra is by audition.

Participation in Concert Orchestra is not intended to replace school or private music lessons. Students are expected to continue to take weekly private lessons and participate in their school ensembles.

Prelude Orchestra

Prelude Orchestra is open to young string players looking for their first experience in an ensemble setting.  Prelude Orchestra is geared towards students in grades 3-5 who have experience on their instrument, but not in orchestra.  Students have an average of 1 to 3 years playing experience, and will develop vital ensemble skills that foster individual growth, while learning how to listen and watch, play in a group setting, and understand orchestral vocabulary.

Applicants should be of sufficient behavioral and emotional maturity to participate in a weekly 45-minute rehearsal held on Sunday afternoons.

Participation in Prelude Orchestra is not intended to replace private music lessons, and placement in the orchestra is by audition.
